Pricing, Billing & Plans

SMS pricing and sender types

SMS cost depends on the destination country, the plan and account terms, the applicable rate, and the number of billable parts in each message.

Use the public Hellotext pricing page and select the relevant country to see each plan’s displayed SMS equivalent and published rate. If your business has an agreed rate or sends across borders, confirm the account’s applicable rate with Hellotext before estimating cost.

How SMS enters the monthly calculation

For accounts under the monthly results-based comparison, Hellotext calculates the SMS amount from billable parts and the applicable rate. It compares that amount with the plan minimum, performance fee, and variable non-SMS messaging amount.

  • If SMS is the highest amount, SMS becomes the Hellotext charge for that comparison.
  • If another Hellotext amount is higher, SMS is not added on top of it.

Applicable taxes and services covered by a separate agreement can still appear separately. If your account is prepaid or has a fixed plan, check its agreement and Billing summary: usage may be recorded and collected differently.

What “up to X SMS” means on a plan

The “up to X SMS” figure on the pricing page is an approximate equivalent of one-part messages derived from the plan minimum and that country’s published rate. Because it is rounded, it does not guarantee that every displayed message falls under the minimum. It is also not a free bucket subtracted before adding a separate overage charge. Hellotext calculates actual usage cost and compares it with the other monthly amounts.

One message in the editor can use multiple SMS parts because of its length, characters, encoding, personalization, or links. Review the editor’s part estimate with realistic personalization values and complete links before sending; each part can affect usage and cost. One country’s displayed equivalent does not automatically apply to another.

For example, if you plan 100 sends whose final messages each use two parts, budget for 200 parts at the applicable rate before comparing that amount with the other monthly charges. Actual usage depends on which messages are billable and their final part counts.

Approved senders and short codes

The sender available to a business depends on the country and account setup. Hellotext can send through approved senders or shared short codes where supported.

An exclusive short code is dedicated to one business and is intended for higher-volume or dedicated-sender requirements. It can require a separate commercial agreement and provisioning process.

See Exclusive short codes for operational details. Availability and current commercial conditions must be confirmed with Hellotext for the target country.

Before estimating an SMS campaign

Confirm:

  • destination country or countries;
  • current plan, published SMS equivalent, and any agreed account rate;
  • estimated recipient count and number of sends;
  • estimated parts after personalizing the message, including links; and
  • whether the business needs an approved sender, a shared short code, or an exclusive one.
